CENTRE FOR HYDROLOGY

The logo illustrates the multiple aspects of hydrology, which the Centre for Hydrology, University of Saskatchewan, works with.
Research is not only carried out on the prairie but also in forests and mountains. Water is studied in all its phases; liquid (i.e. rain, streams, and lakes), solid (i.e. snow and ice), and gas (i.e. evaporation).

Water for Food in a Changing World: Lessons from Elsewhere & Opportunities for Canada

The Rosenberg International Forum on Water Policy provides advice to governments and industry based on leading edge science and policy analysis and so is one of the most respected sources of new perspectives on how to address the growing global water crisis.  Canada is often perceived to have sufficient streamflow and water storage for all of its needs, however there is recent evidence that this is no longer the case in the western prairies.  The Sixth Biennial Rosenberg International Forum on Water Policy focussed on food security and offers lessons to Canada from current trends towards severely reduced water availability elsewhere. Emerging trends of this nature could lead to restrictions on production of food from irrigation on the prairies - unless we are able to get our own water management house in order.
